December 2017 - A Place To Gather - Now And All Year Long

December 2017 - A Place To Gather - Now And All Year Long         The family room - with it’s relaxed and informal atmosphere - is one of the most important rooms in the house. If family & friends are not gathering in the kitchen, you can usually find them in the family room.  The top priority in the transformation of this gathering space was comfort for every one - family and visitors alike.

September 2017 - A Place Of Their Own

September 2017 - A Place Of Their Own         As children grow, their needs for a place to call their own becomes as important as expressing themselves. Let your child’s personality show through in their room.  Now that the baby toys and characters are gone it is important that older children and teenagers can express their individuality, while using more grown up furniture. Plus, later on, when they return for a visit home, they can still enjoy their surroundings.

August 2017 - At The Table

August 2017 - At The Table         Some of the best conversations happen over a meal. When the room is comfortable & inviting - you can sit back and enjoy.  Family meals often happen in the kitchen since this is the area that is the closest to the food, making things easier for busy lifestyles. This doesn't have to mean a rushed meal though - some of my favorite discussions took place around our kitchen table where the atmosphere is more relaxed and informal.

June 2017 - Enjoying Your Summer: Outside + In

June 2017 - Enjoying Your Summer: Outside + In         It is great to be outside in the summer. We all like to spend as much time as possible in the great outdoors. But sometimes it is just not feasible. If we can sit outside on a nice, warm evening, we most likely will, but there are occasions when bugs, wind, or rain send us fleeing indoors. Of course there are other reasons that leave us wishing we were inside.

Image: Header - Diane Bishop Interiors - February 2017 - Life is too short - or the importance of dining in

It is important to share a meal with friends & family in a comfortable setting to enjoy each others company.

Image: BeforeToo often the dining room is just a place to use on Thanksgiving! Such a waste. I can help you think differently about this often underused room.

Rande and Judy enjoyed having family and friends over for meals on holidays - their dining room just didn’t seat enough people and the chairs were uncomfortable. The room wasn’t inviting enough to use it more often or spark long lasting meals and conversations.

Pedestal tables are the perfect way to be able to accommodate more people thanks to their compact size. And this gold pedestal used in their redesigned dining room is so spectacular that it needed to be featured with a glass top. With balanced lines and a stylish sylhouette this table is so much more than just a functional furniture piece.

A credenza provided additional storage and a surface for extra dishes when the couple was entertaining their guests.

The chairs were made for long conversations that continue long after the meal is finished.

The windows became larger and softer with sheer window treatments.

Now for all of the traditional holidays and for no particular reason at all, Rande and Judy find time to be in this room a lot more often.

Don’t let any room in your home go unused.

Design Tip: Consider using a pedestal table - without the legs in each corner, there is enough room to squeeze in another friend comfortably.

Diane Bishop Interiors managed the entire process of furnishing our new vacation home, from start to finish. We spent over eight months planning, designing and selecting all the furniture (inside and outside) and light fixtures for our 5500 square foot home. Working with Diane and Colleen exceeded my expectations in every way. They were entirely focused on my project, and gave me their undivided attention each time we met. Their positive attitude and enthusiasm for the project meant so much to me, and made the experience of working together fun and thoroughly rewarding. I found them to both be wonderfully creative, flexible, practical, responsive and professional. The project came in on budget and everything was delivered according to our deadlines. The end result is that I walk around our new home loving every single item which was selected with Diane, and I would not change one thing about the experience.

Diane and Colleen are not only extremely talented with decorating, they are also a pleasure to work with. They were not pushy at all. They truly cared about what was important to us, and they were incredibly patient, kind, and enthusiastic throughout what could have been an arduous process. We would highly recommend them!!

Diane recently helped me with my kitchen re-model and it was the best decision I ever made. I had dreamed of having my kitchen re-modeled for years, I truly mean years. We have lived in our home for 23 years and finally last July we bit the bullet and had it re-modeled.

The big piece that scared me about having the kitchen re-modeled was all of the decisions my husband and I would have to make together in the process. I had a sense of what I wanted in a kitchen but the task of pulling it all together was daunting.

Diane served me in many roles. Her first visit out to my home was really finding out how we envisioned our space. She was able to easily understand the look we wanted and enhance our ideas while giving us suggestions and ideas that never occurred to us. She has an excellent structural eye and made a number of suggestions (that were not expensive) that made a huge difference.

Our family home of 38 years sold unexpectedly last spring. We purchased a townhouse with the idea of renovating the kitchen, living room and basement. We had some pieces of furniture we wanted to keep but we also wanted a completely new bedroom and living room. We wanted a more modern look with the"wow" factor but still be able to have our grandchildren visit. It was obvious we needed help with this transition.

Diane was able to pull everything together for us from the day we took possession of the new house. She helped us develop a color palate so we could paint and gave us floor plans to place the furniture we wanted to keep. Diane guided us in choosing the fabric and style of our new furniture and created window treatments to compliment our look. She even found a home for all our art work. In addition, Diane was able to connect us with a kitchen designer and contractor who she has worked with to complete the renovations. Her relationship with them allowed her to guide us and them through the entire process.

"Doug and I are thrilled with how well our entire re-design project turned out. Our home while only 10 years old had become stale to us and the interior looked dated. We were at a point where we were looking to possibly buy a new home but we love our property.
