Bathrooms: Beauty & Functionality
Whenever I visit a home that was built in the 80’s or 90’s, I find bathrooms that are in need of an update. The large tubs seemed so luxurious when in fact they were awkward and hard to use. It was impossible to get in and out of them safely.
The sheer size commanded a separate water heater, they were difficult to clean and most of my clients say that they never use them.
The shower they used every day was tiny and dark. It just didn’t make sense.
With a free standing tub, there is so much more room now! The shower became a beautiful bright room with a seat. The two vanities took on new life with white glazed cabinets and quartz countertops. Wall sconces light the counter without casting shadows on their faces.
Painting the woodwork white and the walls a soothing blue made the room brighter and cleaner looking. The Carrera marble tiles in the shower just finish off the look.
Karyn and Jeff’s favorite part may be the floor though. The tile looks very much like wood planks to give the room that cozy old world feel. And to make it even cozier—it’s heated and on a timer.
This room not only looks warm and inviting. It is functional, bright and beautiful as well.
