A contemporary home boasts clean lines and simple furnishings. To keep it truly contemporary–styles need to be updated and colors adjusted.

When Rande and Judy wanted to replace the sectional that had served them for many years, it was also time to rethink the way they lived in their home. Like most of us, they wanted something that would endure the test of time.

Fortunately, contemporary design has gotten very classic and very serene—without sacrificing comfort. Throughout the house beautiful photos of some wonderful trips remind this couple of some fantastic adventures.

A new monochromatic palette replaced the stronger colors, as one room flows in to the next. The warm gray sets the tone for the entire first floor.

Previously the living room was a place to glance at while passing by. Now two curved sofas invite people to come in and enjoy a conversation. Art objects from this couples extensive travels were placed on shelves around artwork, beckoning visitors to take a closer look.

The dining room provides more comfortable seating with a glass top table and a pedestal base. Here artwork was rearranged as well and a buffet added. The room is now ready for holiday celebrations with friends and family.

In both the dining room and the living room soft sheer fabric embrace the windows.
Upon entering the family room enlarged photos taken by Rande not only greet visitors, they personalize this room and serve as conversation starters.

A unique chest with a lamp and mirror now welcome guests in the entry, making this home as inviting and warm as Judy and Rande are.
